Phone won't connect to company WiFi

Before you assume it's a serious network outage, it's worth checking a few things on the phone itself — that's often where the real cause is.

What to check

1

Forget the network and reconnect

In WiFi settings, select the company network, "forget" it, then reconnect and type the password in manually. This resolves most minor connection glitches.

2

Check whether the password has changed

If the network password was recently changed and you weren't told about it, ask someone else in the office whether they're using the same password as before.

3

Turn airplane mode on and off

Briefly switching on airplane mode for a few seconds resets all of the phone's wireless connections, which sometimes is enough to get WiFi working again.

4

Check if the problem is just your phone

Ask a colleague whether their devices have the same problem with the network. If others connect fine, it's a sign to focus on your phone's settings rather than the router itself.

Why a phone sometimes "loses" a saved network

Phones remember dozens of WiFi networks, and sometimes the saved settings for one specific network get corrupted — for example after a password or router change. Removing and re-adding the network usually fixes it without needing to touch the router's settings.

When it's a job for IT

  • No device in the office can connect to the company WiFi — that could be a network-wide outage.
  • None of the steps above help, and you need a connection as soon as possible to keep working.
  • The phone connects to the network but has no access to the internet or company resources.
